Default S&W Blank revolver Box

OK, I need help. I have come across what appears to be an older standard blue S&W revolver box with metal edges 11.5x5inches.

There are no markings anywhere on it. No logo, no printing on the box ends at all, totally blank. It has the S&W brown paper in it. It is used but still in very good condition.

I have never seen a completely blank box before. Can anyone tell me what it was used for??? HELP !!!

Yep... that's a "generic" shipping box. Used for guns that were shipped with the wood presentation cases. My M29-2 came in one big box, inside was the M29-2 in the "plain jane" blue box and the wood presentation case.

The factory also used them to ship back guns they received for repair, that were sent to them in boxes that were "less than desirable" for the purpose.

Those boxes were also used by the Repair Department at Smith & Wesson to return a repair or refinished gun to the owner.

Sounds like a make-your-own "original" box kit for a 5 or 6 inch revolver to me

If anyone can make an original box out of a blank blue box, I have about 20 boxes I will send him/her.
