Default What do these pearl grips fit?

I picked up these pearl grips a couple months back online. They were labeled for J-frames but as you can see they are much smaller. There is a sticker on the back that says Ladysmith and I talked with another member who thought they were for the small M frame Ladysmiths, 1st or 2nd models. Older break action grips seem to be about the same size so they might be for one of those? Any help is appreciated.

Here they are relative to my 37:

And they seem to be ~2.5" top to bottom. I could probably find some graph paper and trace them if that would help.

They are probably for the .32 DA models and the 1st & 2nd model Ladysmiths ( assuming they are for S&Ws ), as they have the same grip frame size. Ed.

Trace both sides on .250" graph paper and post. I have some small MOP
grips I can compare. Screw size may help. Mike 2796

Can do. Not the best tracing job but it should do.

And unfortunately I didn't receive a grip screw.

I was taking some pictures for Old TexMex when I noticed the locating pin hole is in the wrong location for an S&W.

I took more pictures, they're in the following album: Ladysmith Pearls - Imgur

I was going to guess Iverjohnson/H&R/US but the pin seems to be wrong for them to.

That was my first guess as well.

I did some more detective work, based on the locator pin location I believe these are for the Meridian S&W knock-offs.

Pictures I found:

Meridian grip frame:

Meridian grips:

I'm just going to hope they're close enough to fit an old S&W and I'll (carefully) drill a new locator pin hole in the correct location. I can't imagine there being a collector market for Meridian grips (or guns).

Default Smith Wesson 32 Cal long pistol Pearl grips

Sorry for no photos. I have them on a different computer. I have the pistol with identical pearl grips. I measured mine and compared your measurements. Serial number is 8956XX, not sure of shipping date. Poor nickel, 50%, but it shoots very good. The last date on barrel is 1914. I got pistol 2 weeks ago and had planned to put it on the forum with photos.

Dr. G.A., "Meridian ?" I assume you may mean "Meriden." Meriden Firearms Co. of Meriden, Conn. (Formerly Andrew Fyrberg & Sons Firearms ) was established in 1905, and was owned by Sears, Roebuck & Co. It made mostly shotguns and handguns, of acceptable quality and sold through Sears catalogs.. It closed in 1918. The revolvers were not "S&W Knockoffs" but of their own design.
Scuttlebutt, I assume you are talking about a Meriden revolver, as ser. # 8956XX is way too high for a Smith & Wesson top break revolver. Correct?

Ed.

Mine is a Smith & Wesson revolver, not a top break. Smith & Wesson is written on the barrel. On the other side is SW 32 long ctg. I am not familiar with the other type gun just mentioned. When I get home next week, I will post photo. Can you reference my ser number as being shipped in the 20's?

Scuttlebutt, You say "Mine is a Smith & Wesson revolver, not a top break." Then your gun must be a .32 Hand Ejector model. However, the serial number 8956XX is too high to be a .32 cal. Smith & Wesson, as no .32 S&W Long caliber revolvers were made with that high a serial number. Perhaps you have quoted too many digits in the number? If I make the assumption that your revolver is a Smith & Wesson and the serial number is 5 digits ( 8956X ) then is was made circa 1908 and is a .32 hand Ejector Model of 1903, 2nd change, and if it has non- medallion pearl grips, the grips would be for a larger frame ( I or J) than the top break grips mentioned in this thread and would be similar but not identical. Ed.
