Default S & W 6010 Bowie

New guy here, hope I do things right!

In 1977 I purchased a 6010 and gave it to my Dad
As a gift to compliment his S & W handgun collection.
When he passed away I got it back. I have a very modest
Collection of the early knives.
I read that "left over" handles from the Texas Ranger
Issue were used on the initial 6010's.
How many were made that way, and how hard are they
To find? What would one expect to have to pay for one?
Thanks Panther Canyon

Welcome to the Forum. Your question is kind of like " How High is Up ?" The people who were at S&W when the 6010s were being made are long gone and so are any records of how many may have "left over" handles. S&W is famous for never throwing away anything they can use somewhere, so what you read could well be true, but how many? Who knows. Ebay & knife auctions are probably the best way to see what 6010s are bringing. They are not rare so you see them for sale occasionally. Good Luck, Ed.

Thanks Ed,
Are you saying the lighter brown "left over" handles
Are not rare or the common darker handle 6010's
Are not rare. Have you seen the lighter colored
Often?

Does your knife look like this one? I have both the S&W knife and SB 36 to my dad years ago, I got them back in 2007 when he passed away.

The knife I'm referencing has a redder handle like the
texas ranger commerative model, the one I gave my Dad looks like yours. I have a TR set, Mod 19 and 6010 Bowie, and the handle is much redder in color.
I don't have the stand alone Bowie with the
Redder handle. Yet

The knife in my photo came in a blue box just like the guns of that era, and had a leather sheath. The box disappeared some time ago. My son has the knife now.
