Default Brick of S&W ammo $$$???

I have been offered a brick of S&W ammo from about 1972. What do you think the value would be for a complete brick in todays market. I see current ammo going for $60 to $90 a brick and have probably paid $10 for one small box of 50 at a gun show of old S&W ammo.

Not sure if I would be interested at $100 to put on a display shelf.

Wondering what you all would pay for a complete brick of S&W ammo?

Hi James,

I think $100 is a fair price for any brick of S&W .22 ammo that is in decent shape. I would add $25+ for a really crisp brick that looks new. Most of the individual boxes I see at shows are $15 to $20 each. I would probably pay a 10 - 20% added for .22 Short. They don't make any of this stuff anymore!

I saw a brick recently at a gun show in Montana for $100., nice shape but a little steep for me.

It would look nice displayed with some of my other smith ammo or with a revolver.

It's worth whatever your willing to pay. Some will say $20 others $100. If you feel it's worth the price that's up to you. Remember it's not made anymore so your at the mercy of the seller. You will most likely be buying for the collector value not the shooting value.

James
I would pay $120.00 to $150.00. Is it Long Rifle or Short?

It is .22 LR high velocity. He also has a K-22 with non original smooth stocks asking $700 with a K11,9XX serial number in decent shape.

I have not seen either item and have only conversed via email.

Based on your responses, I am tempted to offer him more. He refused my original offer of $60.

James,
A brick of the S&W (white boxes) in excellent shape just sold
in August on an auction site i frequent for 131.00
It had a pre-sale estimate of 50.00-100.00
The inside boxes were all described as in mint shape.
This site does 4 annual sales and they specialize in older
collectible ammo.
Hope this helps.

Chuck

James
As you know I have over 200 boxes of Smith & Wesson ammunition along with powder, new unfired brass along with heads. I do not have a brick of .22 LR. I have a brick of .22 Short. If it were me, I would be happy to pay $150.00 for a brick of .22 LR.

Well you guys convinced me so I bought it. Getting him to agree on a price was tough as money doesn't go too far these days in buying .22 LR ammo. He was looking to have shootable ammo instead of this collectable brick.

I had recently purchased some CCI Greentag online as its the only ammo my Model 41 likes. I offered him an even exchange of Greentag and he agreed.

The outer end flap is torn but the boxes inside seem to be intact. He also threw in a price list from the 70's so I think I did OK.
