Did S&W ever make or sell an auto-opening knife/switch blade?
years ago...... I purchased a very good quality switch blade back when I was a deputy.....from a very good dealer in this area.......... His opinion was that it was Bokker made for S&W....... and that he'd bought it from a police officer in a larger town near here ..... and that is what the man told him when he traded for it....... It lacks both Bokker's name & S&W's.... but sure looks like some of Bokker's better pieces that USGI's brought back from Europe circa late 1960's to early 1990's......
Very well made, & the blade takes a good edge...... in Missouri, now anyone who is not prohibited from owning weapons can own & carry a switchblade, if the blade does not exceed limits...........I believe it is still 4" or less.
Did he & I both fall for a sales pitch? He'd never would have lied to me to make the sale.......thanks guys........... if I can get a buddy to take pix for me, I'll try & post them here.
Added; I just don't remember Gant's Law Enforcement Equipment Supply carrying any knives back from the late 1960's to 1990's........ & supposedly this knife originated from a LEO supply house.. & Gant's had most of teh LEO trade back then............but I admit to having a bad case of CRS.....

Don't recall ever seeing one. However, about 2 years ago I bought the S&W M&P branded "assisted opening" survival knife in this pic:

At least in recent decades, NO S&W did not make any automatic knives.
However S&W did license various knife manufacturers over the recent years to produce S&W branded knives. These makers did produce automatic knives with the S&W logos on them

This Smith and Wesson boxed knife is marked as made in R.O.C. For Taylor Cutlery. I'm left handed so I carried this knife on duty because of the ease of opening with my off hand.

the blade on ours is similar to the model 1250 above... but the handle is way different.......stainless with a large inset almost flush button...........but it still lacks the S&W logo..... so I'm wondering if the dealer & I both, just bought a well made knlfe with a decent $5.00 story..... if you know what I mean........... I'm only into it $75.00 & it's in great shape.....if any of the grand kids get into LEO work, she or he will inherit those type knives. the knife dates from at least 1994... & probably 1985-1986 if memory serves me right.
10mm, sir, I'm sorry if my use of spacer periods offends you..... they help me read longer paragraphs & even longer sentences.........
But I'm feeling pretty good if that's the very worst that I do, that you can find to complain about........ have a great day sir.... and may you be safe, enjoy life & journey well through it 10mm.
