Smith & Wesson Muzzle Brakes.
These were offered in the 1960's. They were made in two sizes, K and N.
Every time I have seen a muzzle brake for sale I've bought them. So far I've seen 6. I did trade one a long time ago. The top three are all for K-38's and the bottom two are for N frames. I bought the nickel N from a long time Smith & Wesson employee. It is not marked by it clearly is a Smith & Wesson muzzle brake. They are seldom seen accessories.

Would you mind sharing with us rookies what sort of price tags these might have??? Just in case I happen to trip over one, I would like to know if I should bend over and pick it up or just keep kicking it.

I've got a K and N, both blue. I've put a few rounds through my pre-14 Target Masterpiece with the K break installed and didn't really notice much difference. Never tried it on a 19 or 66. It might be more noticeable.

I have 2 K frame ones and like Chris said above, I tried one on my Model 14-2 and didn't notice much of a difference either.

If the N Frame was made for the .45 caliber, wouldn't stand to reason the K Frame was made for a .357 Magnum?

I have one and also have heard the rumors about replicas being produced. Never tried it with shooting but can't imagine it would have much effect, except by having the extra muzzle weight.

hey guys , Numbrich has them in stock for a while, pretty cheap, I bought a few several years ago and they were an exact match for the old one I got with a 1973-4 model 14. They are listed at the end of model 14 accessories.

Thanks very much for showing these off.
The only reason I knew they existed was the listing in the Model circulars from the 50s & 60s.
Always wondered what they looked like. Thanks.

I find it amazing that in 1961 it has the lawyer like warning liability statement. As far as the muzzle break I remember not buying a 1955 target because I got tired of the guy swearing that thing on the end of the barrel was from the factory. This was like 1991 so no Internet research to check.

I hate to be the one to break the bad news to you. Lawyers have been around since Adam & Eve. Who do you think the snake really was in the Garden of Eden? I would tell why she sued Adam but Lee would not only ban me from this site, he'd probably come to my house and shoot my computer.
