I've been around firearms since the 1950's and have been through many collections. Among the things I kept are many S&W's and, as of late, I gravitate toward any crispy one. My interest is primarily 1950 and before. I still have the K22 5-screw that I learned to shoot with as well as a Schofield in great shape that my dad took in trade for a printing job just after WWII. Stuff like that I never parted with and I am glad that I did not. The older I get, the more I appreciate them.
I have a question. I've seen those large (22x18) SMITH & WESSON/REVOLVERS posters by Dan Smith. I've handled one with Portuguese language S&W wording around the logo which I believe to be old. By the type of printing I would guess 1930's or earlier. It is marked "Printed in USA' in bottom left. The colors on this one are robust and deep. Then I've recently seen one that looks like maybe it's 20-30 years old, more faded colors, English language and marked "Printed by S&W." Both are really nice but I suspect that the former is older. Can anyone trace the history of these posters and reprints? Most appreciated.
