Default Tyler T Grips From 1950's Kind of Funny

I remember back in the 1950's and 1960's when most of the after-market accessory stuff didn't ever work very well. I picked these up because I collect most everything. It says on the box Smith & Wesson M&P, K22, K32, K38, and Combat Magnums with square standard stocks. They appear to be from the 1950's before model numbers, but could be from the 1960's as well. Anyway, I have tried them on everything. They won't clear the tops of the stocks without carving wood out the grips (which I am not about to do). I've tried them on K Frames manufactured from 1909 through 1968 all with standard stocks. I am glad that I got them because the box has got to be rare. I will just keep them in the box as a collectable. It did bring back memories though. All those times 50 plus years ago when I bought things that either didn't work or didn't fit.

Doc - those appear to be laser engraved and one piece box. I'd guess them to be 80's or 90's.
The earliest ones are in two piece boxes and the logo is stamped on the side.
What number is stamped inside?

Got a 6 T on the inside of the part and Oklahoma 73114 stamped on the outside. The box is marked for the S&W models only; but. now I'm thinking these are for Colts as eyegots2no indicates in his post. Somebody must have put the 2 pieces together (box and grips) mismatched. The box has a ZIP 73114 indicating 1960's at the oldest. . .I just found the ZIP. "Improved Grip Adapter" is also on the box. Now I'm thinking late 1960's through 1970's. Now I've got to drag out all my Colts and see. I do have several of the Colts listed above under Size 6.

Default It Fits!

Always good information here on the Forum. The Tyler T Grip was in the wrong box. . .mismatched. So, I dug out a Colt Official Police made in 1968. It's actually one of the last ones made. The grip fits perfectly! Just because I don't like Colts doesn't mean I don't have a pile of them. They sort of fall upon you as the years go by even when you try to avoid them. This is one I bought back in the 1980's for $200. It was virtually new, which is the only reason I bought it. Probably about 98%. I think I will leave the Tyler T on the gun since it is a lot prettier than gun itself.

Smith & Wesson also sold their version of these grips, in 3 sizes, small - medium & large for J, K & N frames. Guns ordered with these grips came with small cuts in the wood of the grip panels to allow the metal clamps to secure to the frames. Ed.

The older ones had a city zone on them before Uncle Sam invented zip codes.

When I turned in my last issued M64 twenty-five years ago, it had an aluminum finished T-grip on it. I still kick myself for not taking it off first considering what they sell for now and I need it for an M10 I bought two years ago.
I am sure I paid less than ten bucks for the Tyler in the early '80s...
