Help- need info on this sight set.
Hello, I have a S & W Box with a set of (8) different front sights for revolvers. Looking for any info regarding collectable value, history, etc. Thanks in advance, 1moondog

629-3
Hi OP.
I do believe this box of sights came with a 629-3 in .44 magnum, a 7.5" barrel, and an unfluted cylinder. This revolver was part of the "classic series" and a performance center gun that came with the full underlug barrel. The revolver and the the box of sights you have both fit into a presentation case.
Exiled.

Hi, moondog:
I have a set exactly like that set. Mine came in the cherry wood cased set, that my S&W 629 MagnaClassic 1 of 3000 revolver came in. That set is part of a very neat exchangeable front sight set. I don't know about the collectible value of those sight inserts, but always thought that would be a great set up installed on a shooter grade mod. 27 that I also have. It would involve acquiring another appropriate front sight base, unpinning the original base, and pinning the new one in it's place. Worth the trouble, and expense?
Here is my set.
