Default knife model 6080 question

Hey guys so I have two model 6080 S&W knives but they have different markings. They both say Smith & Wesson on the blade but they are different size fonts. The one with smaller font says Smith & Wesson near the bolster/guard and the one with larger font says Stainless USA near the bolster/gaurd. Any help telling me why these are different is much appreciated. Dates of each? Thanks!

I would agree with growr. Tooling for a production run is set up to do a fixed number of knives ( that's why the marketing info says " 1st Production Run") etc., then tooling is taken down. If sales indicate more knives can be sold, a new tooling set up is done and another set of the same model gets made, however the markings may be from a new set of stamps. 0r, in some cases a new vendor does the next run, using their own tooling. Ed.

Okay that makes sense. Is there any documentation on how many production runs of this knife there was? Any way to tell which one is older? More valuable?

The answer probably lies with the maker, Taylor Cutlery Co., that's assuming they kept records of productions changes. Taylor was recently acquired by S&W after being the S&W knife maker licensee for years. You can always query them and see what they can tell you. ED.
