Default My first Bowie

I bid on and got this Smith and Wesson 145th Anniversary Bowie Knife. It represents the history of S&W from 1852 to 1997.

Large blade numbered 047, double hand guard and laminated handle. It also came with a well made, black tooled leather sheath. There's also a factory box sans paperwork, however.

Seems well built and it's sharp as a razor. Love the look and the heft. So what's the story about this knife and a current market value?

If you're happy with that handsome blade, then market value is exactly what you paid for it.

I can't find that particular model in the 4th Edition of the Standard Catalog.

I'm wondering if it's a Taylor Cutlery knife (they're an Official Licensee of S&W) but not an offical catalog knife. The box shows a possible model number of SW404 and a Made in the U.S.A. label.

Either way it's a great knife that will display well with my .44 Magnum Mountain Gun or the 25-7 in .45 Colt.

The knife blade is marked "hand crafted" only, but the box itself has a "made in U.S.A." sticker on it.
