Default Just bought this S&W knife!

Was at my local gun store and not too much going on as far as any guns. But they had this knife from what they said was 1973 with box and all the paper work. I figured its a pretty nice set up for $45 out the door. It will look nice in my gun cabinet with glass front. What do you fellows think?? Hope I didnt get taken for too much money on the deal. Anyhow nice to just display.

I have too many knives!, but I would have bought it too!

Being made in 1973, it's probably made in the USA! - another reason I would have bought it!
(There are so many $20 'Made in China' knives being offered now)

Edit: Looking at your pictures - the box says "Made in the USA"! Nice!!!

Looks like decent quality for sure. Like stated above great carbon steels from yesteryear. My Puma Skinner is my only old knife from Germany and made in 1966. Around $30 back then but $30 was a lot back then. Should have held onto my collection from early 60s. Thanks for sharing yours.

Thank you all for your kind responses. Im not a huge knife guy but always have my Buck 105 pathfinder on my belt for any needs (mostly to open mail and boxes with)so when I seen it with the box I just had to get it. I have it now in the gun safe that is really just a display cabinet which I have full of mostly shotguns. Looks perfect up on the shelf inside it. The Bangor punta box with metal corners looks very much like my model 14 no dash box ( except the solid line and no Bangor punta). If I come across any more this nice and affordable I will have to get them as well. Definetly was made in the good ole U. S. Of A.

Keeping my eyes open too for more. Just added a Buck Alpha folding knife for skinning and EDC plus a Gerber Prodigy Tanto. Only 420 H.C. but thick full tang blade for $50. I heard the Cold Steel Recon 1 makes a good quality EDC. Checking those out soon. Best of luck.

In the early 1970s, there were two styles of S&W folding Hunter knives. The first knife is the folding hunter design by R. M. Lyle when he was with the Carolina Knife Co, which made these knives for S&W, with 10 different handle materials offered. S&W then produced their own folding hunter models as designed by Blackie Collins. The two are very similar in style and difference are only in materials used and the markings. The Lyle knives are stamped "Lyle-S&W". I suspect your knife is one of the Blackie Collins designs. Ed.

I have way too many knives for my actual needs, but still can't resist a decent deal on one if it catches my eye and isn't Chinese junk. I still buy them regularly. Just ordered two new "Made in the USA" Bucks. And a Kissing Crane at the last gunshow I attended.

It is part of the 70's designed Blackie Collins knives Model 6080 the folding hunter. I believe they were made by Alcas for S &W in the US. Excellent knife. A real keeper and a great buy for what you paid.

Used to own most of the original Smith knives.
Only kept the best one, threw the rest back!
It’s the one you just bought!
