S&W range box???
So, I found only what I can assume is some kind of S&W range box this weekend at the local gun show. It is blue plastic with the S&W logo. It is wedge shaped, stands on it butt with 2 latches at the top. Could carry something in the bottom, but for the life of me I can't figure out what you would do with the rest of the box.
Has any one seen one of these and what is it really used for?
Thanks Matt

I'm using this box. My M&P22 came with carton box and I like all my handguns to be stored and transported properly. I bought this blue box and it can handle firearm and 4 additional magazines.
This is a great S&W handgun case.

How about a picture Matt?
Years ago there was a shotgun shell box with S&W logo that use to stump people. Wonder if that’s what you have

I always liked the old Pachmayr case, but I too would like to see this one.

Sounds like you are describing the old 70s-80s era S&W shot shell box. Holds four boxes of shot shells. Used for the range or hunting transport of your ammo. Look in your S&W accessory catalogs of the period for full description& photos. Ed

I found a mint Pachmayr shooting box at an antique/consignment shop, and I use it for my Bullseye leagues.

Curious to what the asking price was.
I have one of those shot shell boxes in the closet.
Wonder if it is worth enough to take to next show.

Didnt the make an Identi-kit box like that , for lack of a better term. I know Ive seen something like that before for some piece of LE kit. Here is what I meant. I think it is an ammo box.

That is indeed the shotgun shell box earlier described. Holds four boxes perfectly.

I'm going to guess that those are probably the earliest plastic boxes the company issued. My old gun-trading FFL partner got a few of those back around 1977-1983 (my old memory can't pin it down better than that) and we called them "Smith & Wesson lunch boxes." They were just about perfect for a sandwich and a beer, maybe a pack of Ding Dongs. Mine finally wore out a couple years ago.
