Default New Here--Correct S&W holster for a model 66

New here guys--have a question regarding the vintage S&W revolver holsters. Does anyone know what the correct size # would be for a model 66 4"? I am looking to find one but I am not sure of the chart #'s for the Model 66. Any help would be appreciated.

Anything marked for a 4” K frame will work

The S&W holster catalog shows 21 different styles of S&W holsters for a Model 66 with a 4 in Bbl and 13 different style holsters for a Model 66 with 3 in Bbl. So, depending on your favorite style you have decision to make ! Ed

Your model 66 with 4" barrel is the stainless version of Model 19 Combat
Magnum. The correct size for vintage S&W holsters would be 54.
You will see two numbers on vintage holsters. 2 digits on the left is
the model number. 2 digits on the right is the size code.
The most frequent models found on the auction sites are model 21
which is the Blazer model, and model 19 which is the Wessonhide model.
A Wessonhide holster is shown below on the left.

When Bangor Punta bought the company formerly owned by Wally
Wolfram they inherited the Blazer brand, so it is probably the most
popular model.

Long before S&W was making their own holsters, Wally Wolfstram was
making holsters for them. They also pop up occasionally on the auction
sites. The holster below, on the right, is one made by Wally for S&W.

BTW if you happen to find one of the older holsters made for S&W
by Wally Wolfram the size you would want for your Combat Magnum
would be size 4. His size code was different than S&Ws.

All K Frames are not the same. Some have fixed rear sights and some
have adjustable rear sights. The vintage S&W holsters have different
size codes for the two. Size 5 for the fixed sight versions and size 4 for
the adjustable sight versions.

I learned this the hard way. I have a beautiful carved Myres holster
that a previous owner apparently stuck an adjustable sight model in,
but it was made for a fixed rear sight. The nice little crack in the
leather is a sad reminder.
