Trailer Hitch cover…!
Was at a friend’s house today (looking at some of his S&W’s, buckles and stuff). Here’s something I’ve never seen, some of you folks may have - a “.44 Magnum” hitch cover. It’s about 4” or so in diameter.

I found one of those years and years ago but didn't want to ruin it as a trailer hitch cover so I cut it down smooth on the back side and double stick taped it to my gun safe door. I get lots of nice comments about it.

First off ... I can appreciate the art and the style. The only issue is, I would not put anything on my car that identifies me as a gun owner. Just like a teacher, you never know my politics or opinions based on my clothing, car, stickers, or house. I prefer not to give anyone societal ammo.

Love the art/concept of the trailer hitch cover and particularly the repurposing as a safe decoration.

Sadly, comparing your attitude of anonymity in your leanings to that of teachers is more and more a thing of the past. I wish it were it not so.
While I agree with the sentiment, having taught personal protection and being security minded, my personal reasons for not 'advertising' is staying under the radar to avoid giving a thief incentive to break into my vehicle or my home thinking he's found a more sure avenue to steal someone's gun(s). I'm sure that is part of your reasoning, but the phrase " societal ammo" made me immediately equate it with " social pariah" which is part of our battle daily. I refuse to accept any kind of social stain for being a law abiding citizen in a (supposedly) free country and enjoying the bounty of the wisdom of the Founders in availing myself of my constitutional rights to the protection it affords us and the enjoyment of my chosen sporting past times. As it pertains to the disapproval of my choices and views from the pin heads who unwittingly advocate living on their knees and licking boots instead of embracing the freedoms and responsibilities that go with them, I can only marvel at their mindset and reluctance to recognize the gifts we were given, bought at the cost life and limb for the progeny.

I agree with your statements. I live in a major city so crime and theft are a big part of my non-advertising status. As for others and their opinions ... I marvel every day at where society seems to be going and I truly fear for the future of humanity. I can only hope that future generations will look back at this time in history as a misguided attempt to "help" but ended up harming society as a whole and that we "learn from the failures" ... but I will not hold my breath.

I found a couple but prices of $66 and $84 are a little steep for my check book.
