Default Questions on Mod 1000, Super 12

Local shop has one in very nice condition. Gun is maybe 92% ( downfrom 95% due mainly to some light peppering of "safe rust" on the reciever.) It's got a 30" tube, 4 choke tubes and double beads. Being a super, it rated for 2 3/4 or 3". ( BTW, I quickly pulled the valve and didn't see any "oozing" but also didn't see a recoil buffer either.) Serial # was 734xxx
So, Not sure "why" but I think I "need" it but I do want it as a back up for trap/clays.......It's seems to fit me well and admittedly would fill the long gun void in my S&W collection.
Price is about $300 OTD.
So before I buy...
Were these guns noted to be reliable with 2 3/4" target loads?
Anyother advice as to what to watch for?

Thanks Dave
