Default anybody else own a S&W 916 shotgun?

Just curious if anybody else has a S&W 916a shotgun. Wife bought one a couple years ago on the cheap for home adefense. After she bought it I read some bad reviews and s couple good reviews. We haven't had any issues out of it yet. Anybody gave any experience with them. It is an ex police firearm.

My dad has a 916A. It is not one of the best guns we've owned. The firing pin on it broke. The shells have jammed up inside the magazine tube, and fired shells have gotten stuck in the chamber. We take pretty good care of all of our guns, and this one never saw much serious use. It's not a bad looking gun, nor is it that uncomfortable to handle and fire..but it lacks a little in the quality department. They were S&W's first venture into shotguns I believe, so that might explain the "behind the learning curve" impression these guns give.

That's pretty much the other reviews I read after she bought it. Luckily I think she has about $100 invested. We haven't had any issues yet, although we don't shoot it very often. Its not the only thing kept upstairs to protect our home either.

I bought one in Seattle for $200, and didn't care for it. I gave it to a friend for his pre-10 5". I did better than he did.

Default My 916

Inherited from my father in June 2011. His night shift workers and I bought it for him around 1977. I have other shotguns for use so it will probably never be fired again but it was carried on many dark and lonely nights by him as a deputy sheriff. It holds memories.

I have a 916-t that was given to me from my grandfather. Its the only thing i have of his since he passed a year ago. I've never had any problems with mine. Also, I just redid the finish on it. The stocks are done with a high gloss poly and a gloss black duracoat on the firearm itself. Looks great and very durable.
