Default I See I'm Not Alone

Howdy all just thought I would let you know of my experience with my 15-22 which I picked up this past Saturday morning and took to the range this afternoon I put about 35 rounds of Rem GB through it with about 3 ftf than a whoosh and bang and my extractor was gone with the exception of the spring and a small piece of the extractor which I found on the floor of the range the case was still in the chamber but had blown off half the rim. Needless to say I call Smith and they were going to send me a shipping label but I said I would take it back to Gander as they are closer than Fed-EX for me. The guy I spoke to at Smith said they have had issues with the extractors and it would take about 2 to 3 weeks to get back to me. Kind of a shame as I had gotten it zeroed with the first 2 mags I put through it and now its gone I hope this fix whatever they do will take care of the problem as it was a very sweet shooting little weapon and I was looking forward to customizing it and had already ordered several things for it. Will let you know how it goes and as I'm seeing on this forum I'm not alone with this problem.

nope, not alone , i got mine early September, and had to send it off 4 days after i got it, took about a month to get back. They'll take care of ya, and even give you a couple extra mags for your trouble.

Yup, you have had a lot of company.

Seems like the 15-22 + Remington Golden Bullets = Out of Battery experience for a lot of owners. Guy on another forum said the Rem GBs he had, some would not go in his 15-22 barrel all the way, even hand fed. That is really out of spec.

Have had same GB experience with Ruger 22/45.

Maybe I am getting too old to remember correctly, but there was a time when Rem was pretty much the standard for .22LR plinking. I liked the small milk carton container too....

Maybe the Remington ammo is an issue. I've put about 1000 rounds of CCI Blazer and Federal bulk pack with no issues of any kind except for one FTF when I didn't put the last round in the magazine properly. I've had problems with the Remington ammo in other semi auto pistols and also semi auto rifles and will no longer buy it at any price. Whatever waxy substance they put on the stuff causes too many problems IMO.

I tend to agree. The instructions that came with my Advantage Arms .22 conversion for my Glock specifically said not to use Remington Golden Bullets.

Remington bulk ammo sent my extractor to the big range in the sky today. Bummer, I was just getting my sight zeroed in too. I tried the remainders in my Dad's Ruger pistol, didn't blow it up, but had several failures to load properly, failure to eject, jams, etc.
Lame ammo.

I was lucky I guess, tried to shoot the Remington Golden's out of my 15-22 and they would not fully chamber. The one carton of these things I have are marked (rifle only) as they were crap out of my revolvers, now they are marked (bolt rifle only), am sort wondering if i should just pull the bullets and deactivate the primeing compound and powder and just crap-can the stuff.

A lot of people are picking on the Remington Golden ammo in this forum. I've been buying RG myself mostly due to lack of availability of anything else but have found it to be decent for the most part, especially for the price point. I get one or two FTF's per 100 when shooting it out of my Smith 22A-1 pistol but I've had zero issues yet shooting them out of my 15-22. I do expect an FTF sooner or later but I'm not at all paranoid about it. Quit your griping and rumor spreading folks and stop blaming issues on your ammo. S&W has a fantastic warranty, call em and get your piece looked at. They will make it right.
(And if you want to argue the ammo thing then start off by telling me why my 15-22 shoots everything I put in it.)
