Default SW 916 shotgun?

The local gun store has a used 916 pump 12 ga in what appears to be chrome finish. It is in decent cond and I would like to have it in the case cause it's purty.
It does need to function so are there any issues with these guns?

Our department bought a bunch of 916s back in the late 70s. They were not very durable and after a few years use suffered from numerous problems from broken extractors and ejectors to broken barrel lugs. They had hard use but the 870s chugged along just fine after suffering the same usage. The department still has some of the old 70s era 870s issued out but the 916s were traded off after only a few years in service. If it's a display gun and the price is right get it but if you plan to shoot it a lot and defend your life with it, I would pass.

If they pay you the $200 to take it then come home with it. Otherwise pass on it. It's not worth the gas to drive it home. Personal experience with several has turned me against owning one or recommending purchase of one for serious use.
Hold out for a 870 Wingmaster if you can.
