Default S&W Model1500

I am more familiar with revolvers. Can anyone tell me whether the Model 1500 was ever made in the USA before being made in Japan by Howa and if so what serial number recorded the change?

I have never heard of a 1500 made in the U.S, as far as I know all of them where made by Howa and still are for Weatherby in the Vangard name. Good rifles.

All Howas.
There were two generations of S&W rifles made by Husqvarna, but they were not designated 1500.
None US made that I know of.

Hello Jim
Correct. The Husqvarna rifles were made in Sweeden and finished at S&W before Placed into the retail trade market and their actions were named the Model 1640 & Later on the 1900. Both are very fine Eurepoean rilfes unurpassed for fit, finish or accuracy. I have one of the 1640 actions in a Model A rifle that is scary accurate chambered in 30-06. Regards, Hammerdown
