Default Help with Eastfield 916 shotgun info

Hey Folks,
I am hoping someone can help me out. What would be a decent price for a Smith & Wesson Eastfield 916 12 gauge shotgun? On Gunbroker.com, the average seems to be around $250 for those in decent condition. The buzz is that the quality was not that good, so I thought $250 might be a bit high. But I also realize everything that is no longer made goes up in price over time. I am not that interested in buying one for shooting. I am a huge S&W fan, and collect S&W firearms. I am now trying to obtain at least one of all models of shotguns they made. This is the last remaining shotgun (I think) that I need to do that. I have a model 3000 and 1000 from the 80s, and one each of the new 1000 and elite series. I know I will never be able to own the assault shotgun they made. But outside of that, is there a Smith & Wesson shotgun model I am missing besides the 916? I know that is a lot, sorry and thanks.
Terry

$250 would be pretty much top dollar for one of these. I'd want it to be as new and in the box at that price, and even then I probably couldn't help thinking to myself, "I'm overpaying."

If you have to have a 916 series example, in my opinion you'd be best off with the interchangeable barrel 916T variant (I think Numrich still has barrels for these, on the cheap), or better still, a 916A police/riot gun (shown below).

I was looking to buy an inexpensive shotgun and got a Smith & Wesson Eastfield 916 20 gauge for $115 on GunBroker two months ago...$165 after shipping/FFL fees.

Default Thanks

Thanks, that is great advice. I actually always wondered what the difference was between the 916T and the 916. Thanks for the education.
