Help identifying a S&W Husqvarna
Hi folks. I just picked up a Husqvarna S&W 30-06. The seller swears it is a Model C, but I am positive it is a Model B. On the barrel it is stamped “Smith & Wesson 30-06” on the top of the barrel. On the left side there is a “B” stamped in a script format. The stock is a Monte Carlo with a cheek piece. The serial number is 326829. I found an old advertisement for these guns that says the Model B had a Monte Carlo stock and the Model C has a straight stock. The seller even had the original box (beat up with the label partially torn off), and it has the letter B written on it with magic marker. So, all roads lead to it being a Model B. Yet the seller is adamant it is a Model C. I guess I know it is a B, and I am just looking for others to validate that for me. Thanks.

B had a Schnabel forend and C had a cheekpiece, D was full length and E had no cheekpiece - A had checkered monte carlo with rosewood tip and pistol grip cap - all according to Blue Book of Gun Values

Thanks, Ken. The information about the Schabel forend also confirms for me this is a B. I have an A and an E. I am trying to eventually get all five.

Thanks. I wasn't even thinking. After I posted this thread, I sent an e-mail to Smith & Wesson. Roy Jinks himself responded verifying that it is in fact a Model B. So I am now good. I should have thought of that first, but thanks to everyone for responding.

Good timing on this! I have one but could not figure out which one it is.
I have not had good luck posting images in this forum, but I will try again.

Husqvarna
Interesting to find this thread, I just stumbled across a model A in 243 at a local gun shop, after reading the good remarks about these I'm going back for a second look.

If anyone is interested I have a Model D and a Model E along with
a bunch of A's and a couple of B's. I have only come across one
Model C which was on GunBroker six to seven years ago and sold
for a lot of money - very rare. I just sold a Model B 30-06 two
weeks ago at the Tulsa Show.
Also, the script "Model B" is normally stamped on the left side of the action
right above the serial number.
One other thing - there is a group of very knowledgeable Husqvarna
collectors that are on the GunBoards.com forum under the sub-heading
of Swedish Civilian. A lot of us get together at Tulsa every year.

I have a model C in 30-06 and it is marked model C on the barrel. It
has a schnabel forend and cheekpiece stock without a monte carlo.
