Default M1000 12 Ga - part 2

I was on the forum end of last year after disassembling, cleaning and reassembling the old Model 1000 Magnum I had purchased at a local gun show. The cylinder was completely gummed up from the disintegrated shock absorber washer. Finally fired the gun today and the bolt almost makes it back to open/locked after firing, but not quite. I can use if as a single shot trap gun OK, but I would like to get the autol-oader functional.

I believe the problem is in the single gas port in the barrel not working with trap loads. The guys at the range felt that it might be the 'spring'. Should I get this over to a gunsmith and any recommendations about what I should ask him to do with it?

Thanks

That is the problem, you will need to have another port drilled or find a 2 3/4" chamber barrel.
I have heard others that have added a port have also had the port threaded so they could install a plug screw for when they want to use Magnum loads.
