Default 1940 light rifle

What is the current value of a S&W Model 1940 9mm light rifle?

I found a record of sale from two years ago for one that brought $7500. I think I recall seeing one auctioned last year for about $11000, but that could be a false memory.

The next time one of these comes up for sale, the price at which it changes hands will depend on how many people with deep pockets are eager to own it at that exact moment. I would not be surprised to see it bring a hammer price between 8K and 16K.

Well, that is heartening. It would be more heartening if they sold for half that, but I'm just happy to learn that they are priced almost reasonably for a model of their scarcity.

They were a lot price. I think if they sold by one's it would have been more.

I'm told the #11,000 sale was a Rock island auction sale last year for a Mark I Light rifle, and a Mark II ( much rarer) sold in the same auction for around $7K. I think the $11K sale must have been two deep pocket bidders determined to win. I will have a Mark II for sale at Reno. Serious offers considered! Ed.
