Gold Elite SxS 20 Ga. need help
For the life of me I cannot reattach the forearm on my shotgun. I've done this several times before without difficulty. I broke the gun down for a thorough cleaning and just can't get the forearm back in position. What the heck is going on?

I'll try. The barrels join up and lock into position easily, but when I swing the forearm into position it needs to seat down into the slot to allow the locking mechanism to line up. This is where the problem begins - I can't seem to get it to seat in place no matter how much pressure I put on it even though everything seems to line up correctly.

I've had that happen with one of my sxs shotguns. seems the little tab back by the receiver didn't reset. i had to manipulate it manually to get it to work.

I believe the problem lies in the position the center "pin" in the forearm shown here:

There is a fixed "pin" on the receiver end which slides into this slot. (click picture for enlarged view)

It appears that this pin might move downward however I can't manage to get it to do so. Am afraid to put too much pressure.

Take the barrels back off and put the forearm on just them. if no problem and the forearm clicks right on it's something to do with the receiver. Without seeing this I suspect the hammers may be uncocked . You will probably have to re-cock them manually but without seeing the gun I can't tell you how to proceed!

It will mount to the barrels themselves easily, of course the pin in question isn't an issue when it doesn't make contact with the receivers. I've tried it in both the cocked and uncocked position without success. I guess I'm off to see a gunsmith at some point, however I do appreciate your input, it's a great forum. I'll post the solution once I've got it.

Just noticed this post, and since I had a similar problem with a Browning Trap gun, I thought I"d post the resolve. The attachment of the forearm kept getting harder and harder, until I discovered the screw holding the latch in the inside the forearm had backed out a little letting the iron to shift slightly. I tightened the screw up and it now easily and firmly snaps into place.
