S&W M1500 in .308
I saw a minty S&W .308 yesterday that will become available in a month of so. What is the value of these? I would like to make a bid.

I got $400 for the last S&W 1500 I sold about 7 years ago. It was a LNIB Mountaineer in .223. The last one I bought was a Deluxe Heavy Barrel Varmint w/Parkerized finish, oiled stock in .308. I gave $800 for it, which also included a Leupold Vari-X-III scope. Today I'd probably ask at least $800 just for the rifle.
Do you know which model? Standard/Mountaineer w/sights, Mountaineer, Deluxe or Parkerized Deluxe Heavy Barrel.

The barreled action is the same as the Howa, but the beautiful walnut stock makes a difference to me. There is also a scope and rings, but I do not at this time know what brand it is. I believe the rifle has been shot very little.

I have a 1500 in 3006 and it is a nice rifle, I am sure you will be happy with yours, you will have to spend a fair amount of money to buy a nicer new manufactured rifle. Good luck

S&W 1500, Mossberg 1500, and Weatherby Vanguard are the same action. Polishing, quality of wood, wood finish, trigger guard, barrel contour are the different cost factors.
I have owned a new S&W (had to be rebarreled), and a used Mossberg and Weatherby. I shot prairie dogs for 10 years before the S&W barrel was "problematic".
