Long story short, M&P 12 shotguns made prior to 10/15/21 could develop cracked barrels and need to be inspected by S&W.

Not exactly off to a great start.
Anybody know how these sold? I don't think I've even run into an internet post of anyone purchasing one.

They should have never put it out. I am disappointed they put out a useless
design.

I've only seen three in the wild, here 'round Phoenix. I picked one up to handle it, and it felt totally alien, LOL. No thanks........

“This notice applies to all M&P12 Shotguns manufactured prior to October 15, 2021.”
Well, considering today is only October 18, 2021…….

I saw a couple at last week's gun show. Probably appeal to some. Reminds of the KelTec offerings except for price. Joe

That's even uglier than the old Hi Standard Bullpup shotgun.

I would only buy one because it is going to be very scarce in the future because I don't think they are going to be very good sellers. But, with what they want for these unproven designs I think I would buy an older proven design.

I kind of get where you're coming from...
It's like, what could we have had instead...that's useful!

I bought a Black Aces Tactical Bullpup Auto. Came with 2 five round mags and I bought 2 additional ten round mags. I think I'm set.

I got the call from S&W today, they want to inspect the gun.
It’s on their dime, was quoted a 2-week turnaround.
Unlike my KSG, the M&P ran like a top with all manner of shells - without fluffing and buffing the chamber and feed area.
I hope it gets back soon, want to try skeet.

I hate the looks of it, but I bought one several days ago for the hell of it primarily because it is advertised to reliably shoot mini shells, which I have recently grown to appreciate as being advantageous for certain applications. Anyway, I only had the gun for a few days before I saw the recall and shipped it back. It arrived at S&W yesterday, October 25, so we will see how long the turn around period is. Meanwhile, I had the chance to take it to the range twice before the recall. Mini shells ran perfectly, and other than the looks I kind of liked the gun. Got to admit 19 (if I recall correctly) mini shells on tap is pretty amazing. The gun is relatively heavy, but balanced well. (I didn’t try any 3 inch). And of course it’s overall length is very short. I also appreciated having one tube filled with mini shells or 2 3/4 buckshot, and the other tube filled with slugs. Switching between the tubes is easy and fast. I agree it’s probably not necessary to have such a high capacity shotgun, but it’s overall length allows me to carry the gun concealed in my car very easily. I also own a Benelli M4, an SBS Benelli M1, a Mossberg 590 and Mossberg Shockwave, and an 870. The M&P 12 is shorter than the SBS Benelli and only slightly longer than the Shockwave. I found I could fire the M&P much faster and more accurately than the shockwave, and it holds twice the rounds. It’s still ugly though.

I shot one on our range and it really feels no different than my KSG 12(with a vertical foregrip), shoots pretty much like it too. They are both *****, but their purpose is not pretty; they are putting out the most buck or slugs possible without a reload-which they do with efficiency and accuracy. I know, the KSG looks like it was put together from some kit, but it does the job. When repelling boarders at close range it really works well.

I showed up at our Sportsman's Club with my Mossberg Cruiser Breacher. They wouldn't let me use it for skeet.

I think some of the S&W design executives are trying to get into the Mall Ninja crowd that spend large amounts of money outfitting "cool" guns to play with.

S&W received my recalled M&P 12 on October 25. I haven’t heard anything yet from them regarding turn around time. Hope this doesn’t turn out like a new model 340 I had to return several years ago because the cylinder fell out over the integral cylinder stop the first time I fired it and opened the cylinder. That “repair” took a FEW MONTHS. I didn’t consider that acceptable for a defective new gun! How can I be a mall ninja without my M&P 12!
