Default Looking For FPC Reccomendations

I was wondering what y'all are doing and attaching to your FPCs. I recently purchased and took mine to the range and decided to make it one of my primary plinkers.
I'm looking for suggestions on what to do with mine and curious about what y'all are doing with yours.

I currently have a Romeo5 optic on it and I'm particularly interested in suggestions for a replacement. What optics are y'all using? Anyone using iron sights + red dot?
Other than that I've just got a mlok hand stop where I like it and some Type 1 mlok rail covers. Trying to keep the weight down. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions for my beloved new plinker?

Side Note: Having the type 1 mlok rail covers allows the rifle to still fold and hold itself into place. It also creates just enough new space when folded, to make deploying the rifle into its unfolded state MUCH easier. The charging handle doesn't grip as tightly into the rail cover like this, so keep that in mind.

I'm using a Holosun 507C-GR for an optic and put an angled foregrip at the front.

Anyone put a comp or a can on theirs yet? I'm curious if something like a lantac dragon would do anything with this rifle.
I added some stuff to mine, I'll post an update tomorrow.

So much for trying to keep it light weight... Really satisfied how it turned out though. Not 100% on the iron sights yet, might remove them, gotta take it to the range to find out. The FPC is the guy the SUB2000's girlfriend told him not to worry about.

I picked up an FPC yesterday and put a Holosun HS503C on it that I had laying around.

I have Magpul MBUS sights on it now, but am thinking of putting a Vortex Defender on it. I have one on my Glock 43X MOS and like it. It comes with a picatinny mount, so it would be good to go.

I decided the plain barrel/thread protector just didn’t look right to me, so I ordered a 9mm 1/2-28 birdcage for it. Should be here in about a week.

The birdcage came early, so I installed it this afternoon. Much better aesthetically IMO and it should protect the crown better.

This is my current setup.

Holosun 510C-GR, Magpul vertical foregrip and Tandemkross compensator.

The rifle will fold with either a 17 or 23 round mag in the mag storage on the stock.

I like shipwreck's optic and Mike-AK's birdcage - that would be the clean look for me. Mine will get a Sightmark red dot and maybe a set of saint irons, I can hardly think of having a shooter with no iron sights. But if it looks to busy, they'll go.

Does anyone have any tool accurate enough to measure the receiver tube? I'm confident it's larger than milspec, perhaps commercial sized?
I tried putting my M&P 15-22 stock on the FPC and it would not fit. The tube was too big. I'm afraid my tape measurer isn't gonna give me an accurate enough measurement on this and I can't find any documentation stating the size.

I was however able to get a knockoff SB Tactical item to fit. The big issue with replacing the stock at this time seems to be having enough space for the cute little charging handle to move. I don't think the spring in the stock is required for functionality but I've yet to test this at the range.

I think that the spring in the stock is more important than you think. The recoil spring retaining plug has play it it. That plug moves back against the spring in the stock and I think it helps with recoil and prevents the bolt from beating up the rear of the receiver and retaining plug.

I believe you're correct about the stock spring. I'm beginning to wonder if it helps the bolt cycle as well. I tried sliding the spring into the SB Tactical item and it would fit... but I could hear it rattling loose inside.
Since it seems likely it's required for recoil, I'll pass on testing with live ammunition and wait and see if an aftermarket part is developed instead.

For cleaning the "buffer tube" I have found this brush to be great. It is a tube brush with an 1 and 1/4 inch diameter and is 15 inches long.

Forney 70487 Tube Brush, Nylon with Wire Loop Handle, 15-1/2-Inch-by-1-1/4-Inch

The FPC is not an AR. Different design.

I did not assume anything. You were referencing “mil-spec” and “commercial” dimensions with regard to the FPC. There are no military specifications for the FPC, and the FPC does not use an AR receiver extension. I was just clarifying.

Ah, gotcha. I was using those terms because I initially thought the size of the receiver tube might be comparable. Being able to get my knock-off SB Tactical item to fit and lock into place on the receiver tube led me to this assumption.
I now realize that the receiver tube is probably significantly larger than both a commercial and milspec sized buffer tubes. That being said, I'm confident the stock could be replaced if you can manage to 1) secure the stock spring in the replacement and 2) have enough room for the charging handle below. The great thing about polymer parts is they're easy to modify.

I'm also now curious if anyone's tried firing their FPC with the stock removed. Will it cycle properly with just the exposed receiver tube and no stock?

I had no idea that S&W was calling these guns "FPCs" but since they don't interest me all that much it went right by me.

Anyway, I can tell you that if you're going to use a red dot optic then follow shipwreck's advice, the Mepro is the best one out there. Not the least expensive, however.....

I like some of the M-lok direct mount lights and lasers but hate the rechargeable feature. Anyone have a low profile light/laser on theirs?

I've got a Crimson Trace CMR-301 Rail Master currently attached to the 'outward facing' side of the barrel. Been pretty happy with the device but it's got a mean price tag.

I've found that I like a vertical grip on the FPC better than the angled grip. Current setup with Magpul vertical grip and Holosun 510C-GR.

It also allows the spring retaining plug to “float” between the recoil spring and the spring in the butt so it does not get battered against the retaining pin in recoil.

Nothing fancy here. Just a Holosun green dot optic and a sling.

I installed a Nikon SPUR red dot (which I got from MidwayUSA several years ago at a clearance price) on a YHM 1/2 inch riser to raise the red dot to an appropriate height which keeps the package compact and light. Also, a Magpul quick attach sling and an AAC Evolution silencer. Finally, a S&W M&P9C (Compact) 15-round magazine for a flush fit to the grip. A nice compact package.

While the bag with the FPC is OK, I prefer a hard-shell case for any travel.

I came up with this. Holds carbine, extra mags, accessories (cleaning kit, screwdrivers, etc.) very securely. I used industrial Velcro as it easily sticks to foam.

Thanks to Shipwreck's advise I installed a Mepro 21 w/illuminator on a 1/2" riser. I couldn't ask for a better optic.

I spotted a romeo 7 red dot at our local general store so after cheking reviews and prices it turns outour general store had one with a 2 year old price on it for $179 . I took my wife over to check it out for her FPC. Our old AR9 has a Primary Arms red dot on it with a 20mm lens and she never did like it . This one has a large 30mm lens and a weight of 12.5oz but my wife liked it . We both like green dots but post lasik surgery for my wife cleared up her vision so she can see a red dot very clearly now . The FPC is my wifes fun gun not a HD so lasers and lights are on AR's .

I know guys like the mepro 21 . I find the clarity in low light to be poor . So for night time indoors or low moon light nights outdoors it's not a good option for HD to me . I also am not a fan of it in day light clarity ether do to the lens tinting . Same kind of issues trijicon dual illumination RMR has but worse . The dot washes out in to many conditions to be a good primary choice to me .

Magpul pop up iron sights, an old TruGlo dot sight, Nordic Components handguard, and a Odin Works Atlas 9 Comp. I am tempted on putting a scope on it to see what I can do at 100.
