Does anyone know if it is safe to shoot steel shot in a Model 1000 ? i have a couple of boxes I would like to use up and reload with lead. Thanks

I have an old S&W model 1000P pump shotgun that was my go-to duck gun for many years.

They were made in Japan, and the barrel steel was OK to use with steel shot.

I've put hundreds of steel shot rounds through my 1000 I bought in 83. And easily 5 times that in lead shot. My 1000 just keeps going.

I need help on how to disassemble the gas system of my S&W shotgun model 1000S, 25¨ barrel length, ported barrel.

You can get a pdf of the Model 1000 manual here: Model 3000 & 1000 Shotgun, 1500 & 1700 Rifle Manuals

Download both sides of the Model 1000 12 Gauge Manual plus the Model 1000 Autoloading Shotgun Instructions, this will have the information that you seek.
