Does anyone have any info on a shotgun that may have been manufactured by S&W for the military in WW II ? Does the Model 10 ring a bell? was a "trench" version also made? I can't find any mention of such in my J. Supica reference books.

Thanks for your help.

You're talking about the Remington M-11 Military. It is almost identical to a Browning A-5.

Is it okay to link to a closed auction?

Here goes:

Remington Model 11 Military Riot Gun 12Ga : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

Palmetto and others, Be aware that the RIA auction in Sep't 2009 has two S&W shotguns, Lots 3547 & 3627, that are described as S&W Model 10 trench guns. These two guns are fakes, with spurious markings and assembled from parts to fool unsuspecting bidders. I have just finish a telephone discussion with the RIA military arms consultant who now shares my view about these two guns, and a disclaimer will be announced at the time of the auction. It's unknown how the Model 10 nomenclature get entered in the catalog, probably a typo. The guns appear to be Model 916s 12 ga. pumps, with after market embellishments. The true serial numbers are unknown. The serial numbers listed in the catalog, #336 & #1674 are numbers stamped on the side of the frame and are not of factory origin. The US and the flaming bomb stamps are spurious, as well as the "United States Property" in the opinion of myself and the RIA consultant, (who is the US Army's Rock Island Armory mlitary arms procurer) . This type of firearms is well associated with a certain Southern California arms dealer, known for his "Creative examples",as he defines his work. Ed.

Lot 3547 just sold at a hammer price of $3,750. plus buyers premium of 15% ! RIA did not make any announcement that the gun was a fake! Just that it was a Model 916 instead of a Model 10. Some bidder just got srewed royally! I hope it wasn't a Forum member who didn't read my warning.

shoot guns

Ed:
Why don't you tell them who bought the second one and for how much.
Tell them that it was a S&WCA member.

Did S&W submit any 916s for military evaluation at the time the M500 was approved?

Does anyone know what King Arthur's pinto Luger brought at this auction? I'm thinking of the one he carried at the Little Big Horn.

Is that the same luger that was presented to George Washington for his victory at the OK corral then given to Sigfreid and Roy for their new show over at the old walmart? Neat shotguns,I should have never sold them!

Follow Up, I just received a letter from Roy Jinks concerning the two phony shotguns ( I had queried him about them) and he has confirmined that there is no S&W factory record of these guns, or their serial numbers, nor were any military contracts ever issued to purchase such guns from S&W. The guns appear to be Model 916s, insofar as their photos show. All marks and serial numbers are after market additions and faked. So, as usual, Caveat Emptor! Ed #15
