Default Nikon scope

I shoot pistols mostly and the few rifles I own are just iron sighted. However I jumped on this 15-22 bandwagon and decided to get a scope for it and I know zilch about scopes. I went to this local place that is pretty cool and got set up with a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40, mounted and bore sighted. Just got to fine tune it this week. Anyways is that a pretty good choice or was that overkill or underkill. Again, I'm totally green about scopes. Seemed about right to me, but I have seen some pics of 15-22's with scopes that look like one of those mega telephoto camera lenses. Thanks

all depends really, i mean, most people like myself, like a compact tactical scope, like my barska 3-9x42 Compact Tactical scope, its 9.8". Since the gun is not real big ya know. Looks more like the scope is attached to the rifle, not the other way around with the rifle attached to the scope.. but anyways, you cant go wrong with Nikon, ive never had one of there scopes, but thats what brand Digital camera i get.

If you have a pic, that would be nice, heres a pic of my setup.

Thanks man. My Nikon is roughly the same size as your rig. The only bummer is the ring mounts are allen screw not thumb screw, but oh well...I'll proly use the scope 99% of the time anyways. I will post some pics tonight, I also picked up a cool 5.11 case for it. Why no pics up until now? Because I let my girlfriend borrow my dig camera!! Don't do that!!!!

I am kinda bummed about the rings being allen screws, I'd like to have thumb screws but oh well....I wanted it all done at one stop and that's what I wound up with. I didn't want to post 1000 questions and spend 1/2 a Saturday shopping for the perfect friken scope rings!

Lot of mounts use allen screws.

Now, how about letting your girlfriend post some of the pics she took with your camera j/k

OK, finally got some pics of the 15-22 w-Nikon. Not the greatest pics, but I think it looks cool. My cat snuck in on one, gotta laugh at that. Pesky sucker.

Shoot, when my camera comes out my cat poses like the clown he is. I'd post a pic or two but that would be the ultimate in thread hi-jacking. Ahh what the heck, I started this thread. Sorry mods!

I have that exact scope on a Ruger 10/22 Target rifle, and think it's just great for the money. The reticule is kind of busy, but it definitely works. I suspect that some people who are into the looks might find the scope too big for the 15-22, I wanted something smaller personally that was more in keeping with the overall look, but functionally speaking the Nikon is a splendid choice.

Just sighted it in at the range, ran another 175 thru my rifle (makes it 425 ttl) Unfortunately had 2 FTF w-CCI of all brands, but 2 out of 425 is ok, it is a rimfire afterall...

oyeah, thats not bad, ive shoot about the amount of rounds as you have, hadnt had any jams, ftfs up untill the other day, i had a mag full of the Federal Bulk, and 1rd jam, and then the next day i loaded 10 Winchester SuperX, and had 1rd messup out of them. So like you ive had a couple hicups out of over 400rds, not bad.
