Default Loading M&P15-22 mag 1 at a time

My question may sound stupid but here goes....I hear a lot about loading the M&P15-22 magazine 1 at a time..... is there any other way?

How are you loading to ensure reliability, what are you watching for as you load the mag?

Seems to me you can't load any magazine unless it's one at a time unless you're using stripper clips.

You can lower the follower and drop in four and five rounds without spring tension then let the follower up, this in this particular mag and rifle does not work so well. What you want to do is as you load each round depress follower just enough to ease the process but still have a bit of tension when inserting the round, you will feel the rim of the cartridge snap over the rim of the round under it when you push it in. When the mag is loaded you can look into the mag slot and see that each round is staggered left and right. I hope this made sense!

well, some may try to pull the thumb things down all the way, and just dropping bullets in..

What i do is pull the tumb assist down just enough to slid a bullet in, and make sure its all the way back, and do that over and over, and while i load of frequantly pack the bottom of mag aswell as the side of the mag with my hand, works great for me. Just went out and shot a mag full of Federal bulk, some slow shooting and some rapid fire burst. Flawless

Thanks for the explanation of the method, it does make sense put that way.

It also may explain the few mis-feeds that happened during my first shoot with my new toy.

Thanks for the help!!!

The situation is that there is a track that the bullet heads have to be behind in order for the mag to feed reliably.

I have not found a quick way of loading while keeping the rounds in the proper position.
