Default Trouble with my New 15-22

I bought a new 15-22 from Academy last week. I took it to the range after a clean and lube and tried to shoot 100 rnds of CCI Mini-Mags. Three times in 100 rounds, the next round to be chambered became lodged in the lips of the magazine. I've read on here about similar problems. So, I took it home and cleaned and relubed. I wiped down the excess and put it in the safe. Next evening, I again went to the range and using Federal bulk, could not even run 1 mag through the gun. Stovepipes, FTFs, FTEs, FTLs you name it...I got it.

I love this little gun. I like how easy it is to break down and how accurate it is. I called S&W and they are sending me a shipping label. I'll send it back and see.

What I wanted to ask is this (and keep in mind I don't know much about guns). I saw a thread where a guy had "tweaked" his ejector. I'm not sure what an ejector is, or where it is located. I'm also not sure what an extractor is (but I think it's the little hook on the bolt). Can any of you help me before I box it up?

Im in Central Texas (New Braunfels) by the way if anyone is close. Otherwise, internet feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes, tweaking the ejector could very well cure your issues. Here is a pic of an ejector. Often it needs to be moved a little toward the center of the bore.

You are correct, the extractor is the hook looking piece on the end of the bolt. If yours is still there, you haven't had the dreaded extractor loss yet.

Edit: If you don't want to tweak your ejector, ( you really have nothing to lose by moving it) at least take a couple of pics of it where it currently is positioned. I think if you send it to S&W you will find that they move it in toward the center of the bore before sending the rifle back to you.

Thanks, that clears that up for me quite a bit. How would I go about tweaking it? Pair of pliers?

As far as which ammo types to use. I have ran through alot of different ones. Try these.

CCI V-max which will jam up 1 out of maybe 100.
Aguila Interceptors NEVER have problems.
Wolf Match and Extra Match NEVER have problems.

Easy on the nads. That is just a pic I grabbed off the internet. I claim no ownership of that item. For illustration purposes only.

There is actually a better picture and some more info on one of these forum posts. I am not sure in which thread it is located. I just put the pic up for a brief idea on what you could try before sending back to S&W.

Is this the thread you were wondering about 27 Beck?

M&P 15-22 Repair thread for FTE.

I will post a question in it, to put it on the front page, also.

That is one of them. Perhaps the other one was on another forum.
