Had a chance to run to Grandma's farm and air out the 15-22. It was a great opportunity to give my little girl some practice. Notice the trigger discipline. We've practiced that at every outing.

Does she like shooting yet? I sure did when I was a little girl.

She gets really excited about it. What I'm most happy about is that she wants to hit what she's aiming for. We adopted her from Ukraine. She and her sister are truly gifts from God above.

"Teach your kids to fish and you'll never have to wonder where they are".

I think the same would hold true with "Teach your kids to shoot...."

That's great! I can't wait for my daughter to get old enough to bring her with me to the range. She's only two now.

I just posted this picture on the photo thread but then I saw this thread. I don't know about your daughter but after mine shot the 15-22 over a hundred times (without failure) she said "this is my gun now." I took her word for it too.

My sister's 16 year old son has claimed his Dad's M&P15-22. Over 7,400 rounds through it with zero problems these past 5 months. Now he is hooked on shooting...especially those pesky red squirrels.

Great pic Treeslam. I'm kinda new at all this so I'm wondering, do your iron sites "co-witness" through the optic? I've got a red dot but I took my iron sites off because I didn't think they would work together.

To answer your question crghill, yes they do co-witness because I also wanted to keep the iron sites intact. I ordered the site through "cheaperthandirt.com" priced under $50. They work well for an inexpensive site. My duaghter couldn't hit with iron sights as she had trouble centering the front in the circle of the rear. On this day she and my neice were hitting quarter size stickers at 30-40 yards.

In the 80s I was stationed at a small Air Force radar site in NC. I also worked part time in the NCO club. Joe P a retired GI would come in in the evenings. Joe had two kids at Duke on full scholarships. After a few beers one night, I asked him “Joe, no offence but you’re a regular Schmuktelly just like me, how did you end up with two kids on scholarships at Duke"? He looked at me as if I was nuts and said “ Gary, Teach your kids to fish……."

Now I don’t know if he got it from somewhere else but there was no denying he brought his kids up rite. So I always use his sage advice when kids come up.

NOTE: Mine did not make it to Duke, but they are both responsible, arrest free adults who constantly make me proud.
