Angry m and p 15-22 question

o.k, new to the forum. I purchased a new m and p 15-22 in middle of nov. I've shot about 800 rds total. cci standard velocity about 500 of those rounds with about 8 of those rounds being caught between the chamber and bolt without firing. The rounds that were caught also had a huge dent in them rt in the middle. The other 300 rds were split between federal bulk, remington bulk, and blazer The federal was about 50 rds with only 2 failure to feeds. The remington bulk was about 50 rds with about 5 failure to feeds and 5 failure to eject casings. The blazer ( no surprise ) did both of these malfunctions 50% of the time. This always happened about halfway through the mag. Anyway, the federal and the cci shot pretty well but not good enough to make me sleep better. I contacted smith and wesson ( everybody knows awesome customer service ) and the guy was very nice and is sending me a fed ex label. I told him what it was doing and the ammo I was shooting and asked him what he thought it was. He said it would have to be seen to tell. Does anybody know what kind of fix there doing to the magazines or the rifle for this particular problem. This rifle is going to smith regardless but i would love to know!!!

They are gonna move your ejector in about 1/16 of an inch. (see ejector fix here on forum) Probably will send you two magazines for your trouble.

Remington ammo does not work well in many guns, including the 15-22.

Thanks 27, do you know if there doing any repairs or changes in magazines? The guy from smith said to not send the mags. I found this odd because the majority of my problems were failure to feed.

Do a search and you'll find plenty of info in regards to your issue.

Loading the magazine properly is essential for proper feeding. Read your manual and do it EXACTLY as it says and you will be fine.

Also, check to make sure your extractor is still in the bolt. Out of battery ignition caused mine to fly off to God knows where.

I haven't heard a single complaint about a gun, once returned from S&W, so whatever they're doing, it's working.

Yeah, S&W doesn't want the mags. They usually include two new ones when they return the gun. I don't think the mags are the problem in feeding, if they are loaded correctly. Out of spec ammo can mess the feeding up, as .22s are made on high speed/volume equipment. Out of spec by as little as .0001 can make a difference, expecially if the rifle is dirty around the feed ramp.
