Picked up new M&P15-22 with factory flash hider today.
Traded my straight barrel in. Looks cool. I dont know why S&W didnt make them this way to begin with?? I bet there are alot of dissapointed people out there.....Me being one of them, who bought (2) of the non flash hider models

Yep, wish my 15-22 came OE with the flash hider. Hope they didn't hurt you too bad on the trade.

I've found a local machinist whom will thread my barrel for $25.00. I'm pretty sure I'll lose more than that on a trade in.
It does suck that they didn't do this from the get-go!!

Congrats. Can you post the beginning letters of your serial number? Not the whole thing but the beginning so we can keep track of the known issues.
Also, what color star do you have stamped on your user's manual?
Lastly, was there a difference in price? non flash hider vs flash hider
1. serial number
2.star color
3.price

Maybe this is how they will tell the good ones from the bad ones. Does it run ok? I've been thinking about getting one but I want to wait till they all the bugs are out.

The hook goes deeper in another M&P owner.

Mine is a "DTU", red star, factory threaded barrel.....
It's going back to S&W for an AWOL extractor.......

You guys are lucky, here in New York State we are not allowed to own this rifle with the flash hider/ surpressor, and can only own 10 round magazines for it.

I don't joke about losing a firearm....... THAT'S SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!
I just picked it up on 1/7/10, fell in love with it, and have already experienced heartbreak..........
That loved and lost saying is complete B.S.!!!!

I guess just because they threaded the barrel doesn't mean other aspects in design have yet changed.

The problem isn't so much that some are losing extractors. It's that some are having an OOB discharge, which blows out the extractor. Not the extractor's fault.
