Thumbs down >> READ This, Please

What is it about this section?

I just deleted 9 contentious or "perceived as" contentious posts in one thread.

Can you guys get it together, and quit operating at an adolescent level?

You really need to understand something-
I have not owned an S&W long gun in something like 15 years. I am not particularly interested in them.
This section is here for YOU.

If all this BS continues, and this section is a constant problem, I'll vaporize it in a heartbeat.

Then, anyone who wants to discuss a vintage S&W long gun can do it in The Lounge.

You don't want to test me on this.
You're here on my nickel. Less Drivel = Less Expense

You might want to spread the word to those who don't see this post.

Very simple-

I have had more reported posts, more complaints, more bannings, and more warnings/infractions issued here than all the other gun forums combined.

Now, I'll be happy to try and salvage the Long Gun Forum by simply banning the contentious, the obnoxious, the overly-sensitive, the martyrs, the flamers, and the trolls and troublemakers first.

So, continue on.
Read the Rules.
Discuss topics in a civil manner.
The 15-22 is a very controversial gun at present. State your opinions, and allow others to have theirs.

Oh, I did not know that this section was that bad. I don't read many of the post here only the one's I'm interested in and all of the threads I've read everyone was acting positive towards one another. Anyways thanks for informing use, and I hope this section and all the member's here keeps a positive attitude in the future because I would hate to see all the great info and help in this section gone.

I think we have some younger members being attracted by the 15-22 and we have a lot of older die hard S&W guys and I think it's not a good mix... Kind of like Rap Music and Country Music, or Oil and Water.

But that's not all of us, there are a few older gents here as well. I think we just all need to be respectful of each other and if we are going to poke fun, it needs to be done tongue in cheek and well documented with a smiley!

Please don't drop this Long Gun Forum. There are a lot of us that really appreciate the forum. If some posters cannot be civil, just ban those individuals. Every forum I have gone to has those individuals that don't respect other's opinions, so just ban the bad apples. My opinion and hope!

I agree, the group should not be punished from the actions of a few, and if the moderation team needs help, then just scout out the level headed posters and make them admins for that section of the forums.

Lee let me apoligize for all of us. I'm sure alot of it stems from boredom. Not an excuse but I belong to a few forums and it seems around this time of winter a few people get a little testy with others or what others say. It's usually just harmless dribble and it is usually forgotten quickly. But your correct a forum must have rules and that is why there are moderators like you to keep us in line. Again please accept our apoligy and thanks for bringing this issue up.

From my observations...

With some exceptions, this Forum appears to generally operate within the General Posting RULES until a non 15-22 owner drops into a thread with 15-22 owners for what appears to be no other purpose but to scoff at the work others have done on their rifles; suggest that other non S&W rifle manufacturers are superior; make fun of and display general contempt via sarcasm toward what they perceive to be a lack of knowledge of Forum members here.

For example(s):

CAJUNLAWYER

This has been absolutely fascinating
As far as the corollis effect pushing the bullet to the right-if you shoot the gun upside down will the bullet then get pushed to the right?? What if you turn around and shoot the gun in the oposite direction?
Any of you boys ever try a 10/22??????

CAJUNLAWYER

That is wicked cool-I'm gonna make one for my Anshutz Super grade Model 54. Hell, while I'm at it, Think I'll make one for my 5" Nickle 27.

CAJUNLAWYER

Why would one go to the trouble of putting a fake suppressor on a gun??
Kinda like putting on a fake flashlight.

CAJUNLAWYER

Maybe I'm just an old moss back, but I'd rather add another $244 to the $1,300 you've already spent to get one of these.
Anschutz 5 + 1 Model 54 22 Long Rifle w/23" Barrel/Walnut St for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $1,544.00
The last one I owned (20 something years ago) would do half inch groups offhand at 50 yards with a 4x Leoupold.

CAJUNLWYER

Not meaning to rain on anyone's parade, but aside from the mag capacity, is there anything this can do that my 10/22 can't in the way of fun plinking?? For the price you paid, I could buy 2 10/22's

CAJUNLAWYER

MY GOD MAN YOU'RE CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I shall take this opportunity to apologize for my tweaking as well (except for the fake suppressors-I still think that's pretty lame nothwithstanding but hey-whatever floats one's boat-at least we're buying guns).
(and I'll let you in on a little secret- I'm not stupid-but I have been called an alpha hotel many a time-that was probably what you really wanted to say all along-wasn't it )

Anyway time for bed-got misdemeanor arraignments all day tommorrow.

--- Perhaps 15-22 owners/Long Gun Forum contributers would do well to more vigorously deploy their CP options rather than engage such celebrated contributors from the Lounge.

But calling someone a "celebrated contributor" comes off as either condescending or sarcastic. Seems you have a problem also.

Now, as the MAN says, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Above is yet another example of a non 15-22 owner recently in the middle of a conflict.

CP option deployed.

Be careful... The last post I made in a similar situation where I offered support and agreement to a fellow 15-22er got deleted.

OK, I looked at his posts here. Some are good, some not as good.
However, this thread is already proving CAJ is not the root of all problems here. Remember the lady that kept it stirred a while back?

Four VERY good courses of action I recommend you all consider henceforth-
1. Read The Rules and TOS. The TOS actually have some good data in them.

2. See the red/white triangle at top right of this post? Anyone can report a post.
If someone stirs the pot, REPORT it.
All the Mods see Reported posts. If it needs dealing with, it will get dealt with. Give the Mods TIME- they are not sitting around waiting for the Reported Post bell to ring.

3. USE the Ignore feature for members you constantly bump heads with. Let them talk to themselves.

4. When you use the "New Posts" list, see where the 15-22 thread you are about to jump into IS.
If it is in The Lounge like CAJ's fake suppressor thread, LET IT GO.
The Lounge is.......................well, The Lounge. Personally, I............never mind.
Figure it this way- If we did not have The Lounge, much of its content would be in the gun forums.

Yes it did, along with 9 other posts, including mine in that thread once I got this posted.
I was putting out a fire. Sit back a while if you can't help us here.

Handejector asked a question. If my answer (observations) is not within guidelines then I'm sure I'll be the first to know. I think it's pretty clear that a great deal of problems arise from 15-22 owners letting others get under their skin. The CP controls are there for a reason. I'm taking my own advice.

In all honesty, I think my post got deleted because it fell in the middle of the other "questionable" posts which were deleted. Had it been left when the others were deleted it wouldn't have made a whole lot of sense. So I think that is more the reason it was deleted than its content since I wasn't being a jerk or anything. At least I hope that was the reason for it!

So my comment here was more poking fun than anything serious.

Not trying to cause any issues Lee. I appreciate your help and info in this thread and enjoy the forums and want them to be a good positive place for sharing of info and enthusiasm.

The thing that most people don't understand is that your 1st Amendment does not apply here or on any privately held forum. You are here by the good graces of a moderation team that does this job for free. The site is usually owned by a few original people who have turned it into a business (at least most of the larger forums I am a member of, generate ad revenue). The owners have a duty to paying vendors and/or members to protect them and they also have rules that we as members have to abide by.

If you are "warned" by moderation, don't go into a tirade because it won't help your cause.. Just let it go.........

Been a member of MANY forums for MANY years....
