Default Pinning a standard magazine for california

Hi all. I was wondering if I would legally be allowed to purchase a 25 round magazine out of state in pieces, and assemble it in CA as a permanent 10 round mag using a screw, a roll pin, etc.
10 rounders are impossible to find right now in California and I want a couple of extra mags. I thought we were going to get a shorter magazine, but in the hurry to get the gun released, Smith used a regular capacity and pinned it, thus giving me the idea.
