If you get the Magpul MIAD AR-10 wedge, you can use the extended backstraps with virtually no gap between the lower receiver and grip back strap.
Installed mine and fits like a charm and a lot better than stock.

I put on a Command Arms UPG16 grip on today. It comes with 3 different front and rear interchangeable rubberized pads to mix and match giving you a truly customizable grip. I like how it feels in my hand but I havent range tested yet.
