I am really interested in the Truglo TG8360B for my M&P15-22 because it seems better quality (than NcStar, Sightmark, BSA, etc.) and has a lifetime warranty. The one thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a plain 3MOA reticle. It has a 3MOA with 25MOA ring, a 10MOA and two crosshairs. I've never used a red dot before, and I don't shoot at very long ranges, so those might work for me, but does anyone have any experience with this sight or brand? Is it really a good quality product? Thanks in advance for any info or assistance!

FWIW NcStar has a Lifetime warranty as well.

I have no experience with that optic, but TruGlo basically puts their emblem on Chinese made goods. If they stand behind it then it's probably not an issue.

I didn't see where either was made on the manufacturer's website, but good catch on the NcStar warranty I didn't know that. The website also doesn't say, does the NcStar have red and green and any idea what the reticle patterns are?

That is the same page I was looking at, but it doesn't say anything about red/green, reticle pattern, or country of origin.

You can almost bet that country of Origin is China.

A quick google search turned up this:

Both these work fine. I really doubt there's much difference in the inexpensive red dot sights.

Even though I replaced the Tasco with the M68 clone, a dot is a dot as long as you can zero it. I've not found any need for illuminated rings or crosshairs, but I've had the M68 COO on my M4 since it was first issued.

I have one. It has a different label on the side. Works great on a 22lr. Over 10k rounds so far.

Chuck, below is another example of how a flip down lid would interfere with things... would block both my holosight and MBUS. It could cost me my life at the range.

Phil, I'm not ruling out sightmark. I just want to know that what I buy will hold zero between reticles and be of overall good quality. Does yours do ok when you go between reticles? Thanks!

I switched reticles a couple times and it held zero fine for a 15-22. But I wouldn't count on it. I leave mine on the circle-dot. The less fooling around with these dime store optics the less chance there is of breaking.

I'm not sure it matters much which brand you get... Barska, BSA, Sightmark, TrueGlow... on and on... I think they're all the same Chinese labor camp optic with different labels.

Okay, so I just discovered that the Barska AC10632 has what I would consider the most ideal reticles, but the reviews at MidwayUSA don't speak very highly of it. Does anyone have the Barska and/or what do you think of them? Thanks!

I find the reviews of products at MidwayUSA to be right on most of the items. I don't have this particular Barska product, but do have a Barska sighting scope. It works, but it is a China product. (cheap) Knowing what I do now about it, I would have spent a little more money for better spotting scope.

If your red dot sight is aligned with the iron sights ("cowitnessed") a flip down iron sight is totally unnecessary and a complication to the system. The dot should be right at the tip of the front sight when looking thru the irons.

If it's not cowitnessed you will have different battlesight zeros for the iron sights and the dot. Probably not a big factor with .22LR at 50 meters, but a liability at 200 meters with 5.56mm as the trajectory will be different depending on which sight you use.

There is no reason to have a fold down front sight with a telescope either. It can easily see over the front sight as the C7 ELCAN does here.

I thought we were talking about flip down scope lids, not flip down sights.

I have a TruGlo MRDC on my 15/22 that is working fine. It cowitnesses with the irons, zeroed well and seems to be holding up (through a couple of range trips, so far). Hakko (Japan) used to make a similar sight. Any chance TruGlo products could be Japanese?

We are.

There's no reason to not have flip-down scope covers if you have the sight mounted properly. A properly mounted telescopic sight just looks over the rear sight and the front sight is too close to affect vision. A collimator or reflex sight is merely mounted in line with the iron sights and you look thru it use the irons. Plenty of room for the covers to fold back and down and flush with the rail.
