Default About to buy one...how do I know if its new?

hello everyone.
going to buy one with my tax return...local gun shop has them for $399 but I'm worried that they are the ones with the extractor problem...thus the price. How do I know I'm getting one that was recently made?

seems like everyone here has to send them back to S&W anyway. Maybe I should wait a few more weeks and see if I can find one made last week!

You've gotta think a forum will tend to attract people who've had an issue, not people that had everything work fine. As far as I can tell they fixed the ejector issue at least several months ago. I think since then the majority of people haven't had any problems.

Just go out and buy one. If it throws an extractor, S&W will repair it and put all new up to date parts in it while they are doing the repair. Then you will be sure to have the latest production gun.
