I've noticed some of the talk about the beginning letters of the ser#. Commonly its the date of manufacture. Mine starts with DTU, it is a newer model, having the threaded barrel with flash suppressor, & the cap that goes at the end of the hand rail. Was there problems with certain beginning ser#'s, if so please post. I would like to buy a used one for my neiss, but obviously want to steer clear of any obvious issues. Some posts have claimed the early models came with the cap, then later that S&W stopped putting it in. If mines a newer model, did they start producing it again, or is it just a fluke mine has it. I bougth it brand new so I know nobody threaded the barrell for the flash suppresor. Anybody got any info on this. Also if anyone has the flash supp. on theirs that came factory, do the ends where the wrench would go line up vertically, cause mine is on a slant almost a 45 angle and it wont tighten anymore. I will try to post some pics of this next week.
