GRRRR how many different shades of tan can there be!
so im trying to throw some color on my 15-22. grip. rail covers, aimpoint cover, stock, etc and every part i get in is a different damn shade of tan. my gun looks like your grandmas patchwork quilt right now!
looks like im going to have to repaint everything! can someone recommend a good spray can clearcoat that will protect my paint work?

...Well camo is supposed to break up the color of the object. Maybe that's what they're trying to do ... all yo can do is call and complain... try oiling them all... sometimes the oil can give them a different tint

There are matte clearcoats.
But seriously, get your rifle out into the sun and borrow a real camera and lets have a look.
The point of having different colors on your rifle is to make it look not like a rifle. I am sure that you have accomplished that.
If that is any comfort.
If I were you, and unhappy with it all mis-matching, I would want to apply a legit pattern. I hear that krylon has a set of plastic compatible camo colors. If you haven't ever sprayed camo, you should read up on it. It is a science.
I have a serious model addiction, so of course I have an airbrush.
Look on it as an opportunity.
My Alter ego says:
Who cares, get out there and shoot it until you are sure that all the setscrews, bolts, mounts etc don't rattle off. In other words have some fun with your painstakingly tuned "microshades of tan" "super secret experimental camo" rifle.

I just heard on the TV that Maaco is offering their basic paint job at a reduced price, something like $279.

I have used the Krylon camo spray before and it actually works and looks pretty good. Its not as durable as Duracoat but gets the job done.

Common problem. "Tan", or for that matter "Red" or "Blue", etc, are not standardized. You can't expect colors from different suppliers on different parts to match, though you might get lucky with "Black".
I can't even get two cans of paint from the same store to match, and those colors are defined.

you think that's bad....try to go get a gallon of "white" paint at Lowes. At last count I believe there were 7,965,567 variations of white to choose from.
