Yes, they are marked "New and Improved". The 225 round boxes I believe. I had 2 of them and they didn't run very well in my 40 year old Marlin/Glenfield Model 60 which is my "old reliable". Maybe I just had a bad batch, who knows. I was able to pick up 100 rds of Winchester high velocity power points and 500 rds of CCI Standard Velocity, which are on the list. We'll see how she handles those.

Long as they run good in my 15-22...

Time for one of my long standing rants..sort of. The current ammo imbalance has kind of glossed over a long standing truth about 22 ammo (and in many instances other calibers). Rimfire guns particularly are what we call ammo sensitive. Two seemingly identical guns show widely different accuracy or reliability when fed different ammo. The difference can be simple like a different brand, or different bullet weight or profile. Some guns just seem to prefer one style or brand over another. You can see it on paper if you keep good notes (usually the perforated targets are great evidence.) And all you need to discover it is a pen to record what you were shooting at that specific target (and the range and even weather conditions.)

In times past, ammo was available. So the hot ticket was to buy a few different brands, weights and velocity and go shooting. Its not all that painful. But what you'll discover, probably, is that your one specific gun will seem to do better with one brand over another. Its not rocket science. And what you, the shooter needs to do is keep the empty box! Its got the lot number printed on it. If you look you'll see it. Take the box back to the discount house or gun shop and buy more. Lots more. As in buy them out. Then shoot that favored lot # until you're nearly out. Then do it all over again. But keep the last few boxes. Then make sure the new stuff is at least as good. If its not, keep looking.

I know its easy for me to say because I'm old and remember when ammo was available. But I've been doing this a long time now. I still have my favorite ammo from the summer of 1966! And back then Remington Golden bullets were one of the best. Its not the brand (but it could be) its the specific production lot that made the difference. Given how poorly some of the Remington ammo has performed of late, I can see the variability within the brand over decades.

Another quality test you can perform is to buy some of the high dollar Eley or such and test it against your preferred bulk ammo. The hope is you'll get lucky and find some Federal 550s that are almost as good (it won't happen because the high velocity just won't be as accurate as the low speed).

Another thing you can do over time is when you go to gun shows and some old guy like me has ammo on his table, look at it closely. Sometimes you can even find oddball ammo, like the Stingers and what not. And CB caps and Shorts and even ancient ammo from back in the 1950s. Buy them. You can waste it by burning it all up some nice afternoon. But you can also shoot it and see how it works compared to your favorite ammo.

Being a good shot entails many things. Its not just how much junk you can hang on your gun. Its little things like breathing, trigger squeeze, and ammo selection. All work together (or against each other.)

Yeah, that's all well and good. But these guns seem to pretty much eat anything they are fed. Now it certainly is possible that you got a bad batch of Golden's, but I would be on the edge of it going back to S&W or dumping itand getting another if this continues. I have shot a couple thousand rounds through my first 15/22 and I haven't had a total of 15 FTF and never any stovepiping.... Shot at least 10 different brands and they all run beautifully. Accuracy is a different story, but they all go bang and cycle.

I am pleased to let you good fellows know I ran 200+ rounds of the CCI Standard Velocity LRN, and a handful of the Winchester Super X High Velocity Power Points through her today without a single failure. Looks like she just doesn't like the Rem GB's. I'm loving this rifle now that I know there isn't something wrong with it other than being picky, lol.

Anybody ever run some Aguila Super Maximum Hyper Velocity 30gr. through their 1522? Does it function?

I've run Federal Bulk Pack, Remington Cyclone, Federal American Eagle, CCI Mini Mag Hp and SV and Stingers through my 15-22 and have yet to have any type of failure after about 1500 rounds. I love this rifle.

Beggars can't be chosers. These days with the on going 3 year .22LR shortage, I shoot what's available. Even the forbidden Remington stuff. Only about 2% failure rate with the dirty cheap stuff from Remington.

Armscor Precision 36 Grain HV Hollow Point -

I bought 1000 rounds because I thought I got it cheap and I couldn't find ANY 22lr locally.

Works fine with the M&P22 Pistol but still super dirty.

With a new 2015 M&P AR15-22 I have constant feed problems, FTE issues and its super dirty. I'm now using the with the rifle with very few issues at all.
