Default Rail covers

i was looking to get a set of rail covers and have never had any experience with them.

Im looking at two different types

first ones are the full strips
ARR-169 - AR-15 Rail Covers Tapco Set of 5 Black 6" Rail Covers Textured Santoprene

second are the individual ones
ARR-584 - AR-15 Rail Covers for Handguards Black UTG Package of Twelve 2"x1.375"x0.75"

the full ones to me seem like it would be more sturdy but less optional for a fore grip or what now. as the small pieces im not sure if they will move around any.

Thank you guys for any advice.

I had the utg covers but sold them and got some Larue index clips. I wanted something more "fancy". But I did really enjoy the utg's. Package of 12 won't cover all the rails, but I had a riser, foregrip and MI front sling attatchment and they did cover rail space left over. They are some of the bulkiest though, which I liked, but to be sure there are quite a few pics in the pic thread with them applied. Also, they were very solid. Did not move at all and unlike some of the more expensive ones they give you a completly different feel, which also I liked. All in all if you end up not liking them they're really cheap. Hope this helps.

I grabbed the UTG 12 pack for mine just because they were inexpensive. I like them quite a bit, but I think I may try the Larue Tactical clips at some point

The Larue clips are nice. They don't change the feel of the forearm but they smooth it out. $40 is alot for this kind of accessory but being accompanied by dillo dust, a couple cool stickers and a copy of the constitution made it all worth my while. Extreamly profesional, friendly and interpersonal company. Highly recomend.

Since this is a .22LR, not my service rifle, I think I spent about $9 in these Ergogrips (see egrogrips dot net).

I like the flexibility of the UTC's and they are plenty tight. Mine don't wiggle a bit.

The 12 pack worked perfect for me by the time I put on my laser sight, M3 light, and rail mounted front sling swivel.

Agreed! I have them in the dark earth color as well as a vertical grip and stock of the same color scheme. I had the UTG rubber version, and found the Magpul XTM rails to be more durable/protective.

I have a mix of XTMs, but they make the fore arm feel pretty "thick". I am starting to go toward the low profile plastic/rubber ladders and cut them up and mix and match a camo like pattern.

I got a set of the Troy rail covers for $17.00, shipped off Ebay. I like them much better than the UTG I had before. I would have done the LaRue Index Clips, but couldn't bring myself to spend $40.00 for rail covers.
