Default Initial Field Strip / Clean-Lube Complete! + Range Report

Yeah! Just finished up. I took the barrel assembly completely off. I ran a Bore Snake through the barrel with some Outers Bore Cleaner. And, cleaned everything else internally with that. Then; I sprayed Rem Lube on all moving metal parts. Might as well use what I have in stock, right!?

So; it's all back together. And, I must say; it's nice to get that first break-down out of the way. So easy, too!

It looks to be a beautiful day today outside Memphis, TN (Somerville - to be more exact). It feels like fall is here!

I'm heading over to Classic Arms in a little while to check out the Magpul Full Rail Covers, and see what other goodies they have in stock for the 15-22. Then; I'm going to one of the local indoor ranges with some paper targets. And, maybe even do a little shooting out back of my place. I'm on 1&3/4 country acres with a thick tree line behind our property.

I'll post photos, and give a report later on today. And, for now, I have a brick of 550 rounds of Federal 36 Grain, Copper Plated, Hollow Points to try out.

It was a fun afternoon yesterday. I put 250 rounds through my 15-22. The following is my report.. And, a couple of photos, as well.

My very first round apparently didn't chamber. I don't think the clip was latched in. So, it dry fired. After that, I had maybe 3 FTFs out of the 250 rounds.
I found a 1by6 inch board that I first put the targets on. My first 75 rds., the board laying up against a barb wired fence at around 45+ yds. And, the rounds were going right thru that board.

I'm using the 550 rd. Federal 36 grain hollow point from Walmart. Under $20..

Later, I just put the targets over the barb wire. Perfect! And, I moved the target area closer. I walked it off to be about 115 ft.

I had the stock adjusted out all the way to the 6th position. But, after firing the first round, the stock would collapse down to position 5. Happened about every time after loading a new clip.
I need to lock that down. There's a little knob below the stock that I thought was a tightener for that very purpose. But, it didn't seem to have any effect. I was, however, getting used to the 5th position.

This is a field behind an elementary school. I guess it's something like 75yds. by 40yds. in size. It's sort of in a ravene. And, you will also notice in one photo there is a chair. Lol! That was sitting behind one of the buildings. So, I grabbed it, and went back there to have some fun. The area where I put the targets is lined by a barbed wire fence. And, you will notice there is a 1x6 board that I used at first for the first 50 or 75 rounds. It even already had a nail in it! Perfect. Later on when I moved the target to the 36 yd. mark (I just stepped it off), I put the targets on the barbed wire.It worked well. At first, I was shooting around 45 yds, I suppose. The last time I shot a gun (besides air guns) outside was in Tucson, AZ around 1975. I had a .22 Marlin for a short time.

This is very new to me! So; I just sat in the chair, and leaned forward resting my elbow on my knee. After some adjustments, I was getting closer to the targets! Lol!

My last 25 rounds were on the target you see pictured. I was pretty happy with that! And, I like the iron sights. I was shooting with my left eye closed. And, later, I tried shooting with both open. It was a little awkward. But, it was okay. What is the preferred method with iron sights?

A couple of more...

I need to get my stock to stay in the fully extended position, if possible.
