Default high capacity mag, New York

Whats up guys, Just signed up, looking to get a 15-22 sometime soon but just want to clear up some things first. I've been reading about the gun laws in NY and everyone says that any mag over 10rds is illegal. I just came across this site which has a copy of the NY laws, it seems to me that high cap. mags in a .22 rim fire rifle are legal?? here is the link and the section I am referring to, its under the Assault Rifle section:

•“Large capacity ammunition feeding device” means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device, manufactured after September 13, 1994, that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition. There is an exception for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition

NYS Gun Laws | NY Firearms - New York Firearm & Gun Ownership, Laws, Politics, Weapons | NY Firearms

Am I just misinterpreting the statement?

The tubular device the NY law refers to is the tubular magazine found on old 22 rifles such as the Winchester Models 61, 62, 63 and Remington 121. Those mags are attached to the rifle under the barrel and are not removeable.

Ok that clears things up perfectly, thank you. That did get my hopes up for a little while

Mike: Since the gun is so new there are no pre-ban mags that will work, at least not that i'm aware of

I think NY congress critters and Mayor Bloomberg, are just trying to keep their citizens and taxpayers safe. Need to keep hi-cap .22 RF assault weapon mags out of the hands of children, gang bangers, subway holdup men and like ilk. The 22RF is a real danger because you can carry so much of it in a small package and compared to $1.00+ a round centerfire ammo it is dirt cheap.

Just look at it from the point of view of Mayor Bloomberg, NYs lawmakers, Sen. Chuckie Shumer, Hillary et al., and they are really doing you a favor. You should thank them for being so concerned. Why here in Texas most of our lawmakers don't much care how many bullets our magazines hold, and how wickedly ugly or long arms look. They do have a funny quirk about bayonets for some reason. We are not allowed to carry them.

While I agree with the fact that some people may use higher cap mags unresponsibly, I believe that these people will own and use them whether its legal or not. If your gonna shoot up a subway, your not gonna be worried about your mag being illegal, just my $.02

yeah it's like that. I really feel they'd be happy in ny if the most dangerous thing we could use to protect ourselves were nerf axes.
