Question Spare Parts

I am curious if anybody knows if there are any spare parts for the 15/22 out there yet? Parts like uppers, lowers, barrels and etc. Or do you have to go through S&W to get them?

I dont believe so, basically because it wouldn't make sense for others to manufacture them. They would be free from S&W if they needed replacing.

I'm not sure a spare "upper" makes economic sense. New carbines are $400 and include the "lower" as well. And there are sure to be used models available too.

The 15-22 is largely a proprietary design, and as such, nobody is making replacement parts for them yet. However, there are modification parts being made, such as a barrel nut that allows you to mount an aftermarket standard AR-15 floating forearm. Some standard AR-15 parts can also be used, such as the entire fire control group, butt stocks, and some pistol grips. I'm personally waiting for someone to start making a 18-inch barrel with a tighter rate of twist (and hopefully a match-grade chamber/crown).

Can understand that. The reason I was thinking about getting another upper was that I wanted to try some painting and didn't want to ruin the only one I have.
