Default Anyone have the Nikon Prostaff 4x32 on their 15-22?

Please don't tell me there are 1000 threads on optics already. I searched and could only find a few references to this scope and none were very informative. I am really looking for someone who actually has used this scope on their 15-22 to tell me what they think. Any pictures would be great as well.

Thank you.

As promised:

Ignore the mount - it's from NCStar and is a true piece of junk. As soon as I decide to spend $65 on a Burris P.E.P.R. mount (like I have on one of my big ARs), Ill get one.

theres also a mount by SWFA for a little less called the SSALT (and pepper, get it..) that is identical in quality but includes the choice of removable 1'' rings so it work with scopes both 30mm or 1''. it doesn't have the picatinny on top of the rings if you don't like that look. but if you do want them you can add them later, instead of having it permanent.

Thanks. I was afraid it might look too big on the gun. So how do you like it? If you were buying the gun today (my MOE in FDE arrives Tuesday; can't wait) would you buy this scope again?

Most of my shooting will be in the 25-50 yard range. Is this scope overkill? I'm trying to decide between this scope and a simple red dot.

Thanks again,
Don

You want to see a big scope on a rifle? This is a Mueller Eraticator 8.5-25x50 AO scope with the 3-inch sunshade installed, and it's sitting on my scratch-built AR-15 with a 16-inch barrel (the mount is a Burris P.E.P.R.).

I've done my time on mounts that have 1-inch adapter rings, and will never do it again. The PEPR mount comes with smooth tops if you don't want/need the picatinny rails on them. I posted a pic of one of my big ARs with the PEPR mount on it with the smooth tops.

a red-dot will do you just fine if you never go past 50-100 yards. I prefer the scope anyway though for magnification/precision. most red dots with magnification will be just as expensive as the scopes.

I'm not sure what experience you have with other products but the SWFA is a high quality item with steel insert rings. they also offer some of the best customer service out there if you have any problems. its basically identical if not better.

The grip is a CAA UPG-16, and is no longer available in black, but is still available in green and tan. The company is going through some legal issues between it's two partner owners, and they've stopped production on all of their stuff as far as I know, so what's available is *all* that is available. Brownells has them and so does Midway, and a bunch of other places, but I say again - there are none available in black. I found a black one used and snatched it up immediately for my frankenrifle.

One another note - you said you got the 15-22 MOE, and the MOE comes with the Magpul folding sights, which just so happens to be the rear sight that you see on my gun. You can see that the scope can be installed without you having to remove the front or rear sight.

Yeah. It's an adequate scope for a non-match-grade rife. If I was going to compete with it, I'd probably get a 3-9x40 scope, but for plinking, it's fine - and it's cheap - just $79 at Midway.

Actually it's currently $110 at Midway, but Amazon has it for $85. I can't see getting a ****** $40 scope when you can get a Nikon for $85.

if you want to stick with the prostaff, for $10 more you can get a 3-9x40 here at clearance price. Nikon 3-9x40 ProStaff Riflescope

personally, i'd probably buy one of these in 2-7x32 for a little bit more, as it is about 4 classes higher than the prostaff is. SWFA Vortex Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper Rifle Scopes

and this is not my list, but is quite relatively accurate. best from top to bottom.
