Default Benefits of Playstation COD...

With a 2 young boys, the battle of getting outside and away from the video games is a constant battle.

Looking for a positive here, both kids love playing call of duty and have become very versed on the guns in the game and are amazed that they are based on real guns.

So they are now very interested in shooting and I couldn't be happier. My dad took me shooting when I was young and my kids weren't very interested until being hooked on the COD games.

So, for xmas, I think I will surprise them with the 15-22. Downside is I have to buy a MA compliant gun which does not have the adjusting but stock, so I am a bit worried it will not fit my 9 year old.

Anyone with a MA compliant 15-22 or M&P find it difficult for smaller kits to mount?

My 13 yr old finds it a little more comfortable with the stock shortened one click, but she can hold it fine fully extended. Your boys should be fine; they can always cheat it under their armpit if their arms aren't long enough.

That's awesome your kids are gettin into shooting! My son and his cousin LOVE Call of Duty games! It has also helped his love of the sport of shooting grow too. Shooting and hunting have been family favorites for generations here.

As for sizing him up for it, I'm wondering if maybe while out shopping, say at a sporting goods store, ask to look at one (after discreetly telling the employee what is up so he understands why you're handing it to a nine year old), and let him hold it. It will probably be just a tad long unfortunately.

When my son started shooting, he was pretty small, so even a 22lr was too long for him. When he was that size, he'd actually have to let the end of the stock go under his armpit. It made it somewhat tough to look down the sights, but he did just fine and by the time he was 13, he'd shot everything we got, 12ga, 300 savage, .38 special..etc. He loves shooting with his cousin and rest of the family...good times.

Welcome Breyton! Although the stock is pinned, you should be able to remove the pin, adjust the stock accordingly, and then re-pin it. However, that would require you to drill another hole in the receiver extension.

Unfortunately, a pinned stock makes it difficult to tailor the gun to multiple shooters unless they happen to prefer the same length of pull.

I'd imagine that modification would be considered illegal in his state since they're not allowed to have adjustable stocks. (silly I know, but still) Maybe if it was permanantly mounted in the short position, to where adjustment took more than just the release of the pin. I'm sure your 13 yr old wouldn't care. My girlfriend likes to shoot her 5.56 AR with the stock in the short position and never extends it, so it won't be "too" short for the older one.

Buy them the gun and hopefully they'll be too busy shooting to play the game I don't really like when I watch firearm videos on youtube and see stupid comments from people that play the game. And 13 year old kids cursing like crazy online is..pretty hilarious and sad haha

If the game gets them interested in shooting AND they have an responsible adult to teach them the proper way of handling and taking care of a gun, well then thats okay in my book.

after having played over 10,000 hours of shooting games throughout growing up (the past 10 years) I came to the same conclusion and bought the 15-22. They are suprisingly excellent training tools, most people scoff at video games. Excellent choice for them. just make sure they know every last word of the manual, it isn't as easy as press x to reload or press x to clear a jam
